Beginning his artistic career within the tattoo industry and being trained by some of the country's most well known tattoo artists, Kale Gibson's artistic pursuits have been far from conventional. Gibson did not pick up a paintbrush until his mid-20s, later completed multiple courses at the Victorian Art Society and has been pursuing his love of art since.
His current body of work examines the origins and manifestations of attachment styles, and the ways these relational patterns shape the human psyche.
Though born and raised in Narm/Melbourne, Gibson currently works in the Northern Territory as an art technician at Papunya Tula Artists Pty Ltd. His trade background and the way he draws on those practical and technical skills alongside his arts experience allow him to approach and develop his practice from a particularly hands-on perspective.
Alongside the artists he works alongside and the tattoo artists he was trained
under, he is heavily influenced by Arthur Streeton, Hans Heysen, Sidney Nolan and Zdzisław
Beksiński. His work has been exhibited in past Northern Territory Senior Territory Shows and
exists in private collections within Australia.
