"I started painting at Ali-Curung. I think it was 2013, I used to work as a teacher in Ali-Curung school.
I started to paint when I saw my old man, my stepfather, who was painting. Then I got really used to it."
"I like doing all sorts of painting, especially doing experiments. "
Lucy Tanami finds inspiration in her immediate surroundings of Tennant Creek, from historical buildings to local camp dogs. She also depicts local
landscapes and her families country in Kalkaringi. "the country we live in. Wild desert flowers, gum trees, birds. That’s our culture. Our elders past and
present. Our knowledge of understanding our Country –looking after our land.”
Beyond her art practice, Lucy works as a Studio Technician in the Tennant Creek Arts studio at Barkly Regional Arts.
